Ouch! I have been wearing this since last night.
I am not sure exactly what I did to aggravate my muscles/tendons, but it hurts. I guess I over-knitted. Yesterday I tried to knit two rows on my poncho and it hurt. I tried to knit two more tonight and it still hurt. I am forcing myself to stop.
Grrr - I want to make something! I am feeling a little lost as to what I can do with myself . . .

Still working on the poncho - the current length is 20 inches. I knit when I had a spare moment during this busy holiday weekend. I thought about posting a photo but I thought it looked uninteresting when I lay it out on the rug. When I get to the finished length, I will definitely show the results.
Meanwhile, remember that blue spring bag I knit but have been having trouble seaming together? I am seriously thinking of frogging the whole darn thing and crocheting the yarn into a cute bag.

The scissors are to give you a sense of scale. I have knitted about 9 1/2 inches. No fancy stitches here, just K3 & P1 rib over and over again. This is a no-thinking-knitting project, perfect for me right now.
Have you ever over did it with your knitting or crocheting? I had to take a 24-hour break from knitting. Tuesday night I felt a painful twinge in the shoulder/neck area. I kept telling myself, “Just one more row!” I did not want to stop working on my poncho. The next day the knots in my neck were still there. I told myself to listen to my body. I did not want to hurt myself so much that I might not be able to knit for a couple days because of a neck-muscle-seizure (I get them periodically), so no knitting. I regretfully took my knitting out of my bag for my subway commute.
I started knitting again tonight with lots of breaks — so far, so good . . .

Do you have a KB@W? (Knitting Buddy @ Work)
I am pretty lucky - I have a small group of KB’s@W and we share ideas and help each other. When we can, we try to sit together at lunch and knit. One of my KB@W is a new knitter and crocheter (is that a real word?) and she is amazing! She has learned so fast and is already producing gorgeous projects. Yesterday, we went to School Products. (We walked down 28th Street where all the flower shops are - what a great spring fix - all the new flowers and green plants!) She bought yarn to start a wrap, and I practiced great restraint and did not buy any yarn. Right now I am on a yarn diet and have resolved to only buy yarn when I have a project in mind. It was hard - they had this yummy hand-painted cashmere/wool mix and I was also enticed by the Karabella cottons that are out now. Today I showed her how to cast-off the first knitted project she has every made. It’s good to pass the knowledge on . . .
I have noticed my new theme removed my tag line — yarn n. 1: a continuous often plied strand composed of natural or man made fibers 2: a narrative of adventures — I want my tag line back! Now I have to figure out how to integrate it into this theme - but when?

I made a little swatch of the colors for the poncho.
While I love all three colors by themselves, I do not think they are working together. It says “rugby” when I look at it. I don’t want it to say rugby. I want it to say, “Look at my flirty little spring poncho that I made.”
So I went back to my stash and found two more possible yarn additions — a chenille and an eyelash yarn.

I probably would not do both, just one. I will play with these yarns and see how they look.

I reccommend this small but unique show at the
American Folk Art Museum called “White on White (and a little gray).” Part of the show displays all white bedcovers using candlewick, cording and other embroidery methods. I found them to be incredibly striking because of the sculptural qualities of the embroidery. I admire the craftswomen of the past who did that type of work. I am amazed by the skill, patience and creativity that was employed to make something useful and beautiful.
