About Me

Me and my sister circa 1973.
I have always known I wanted to be an artist since I was three years old. I was constantly drawing, even as I lay on the floor watching t.v. Through school, I was known as the “artist.”. My parents, even though I am sure they had their trepidations, always supported my artistic side (Thanks Mom & Dad!).
One of my biggest dreams came true when I left home to attend art school in New York City. Since graduating from Pratt Institute, it’s been quite a journey trying to find the balance between creating art and making a living. I’ve worked in visual display; been an art teacher; became an administrator; returned to graduate school; and now I am working at a New York city art school. During all that time my motivation for creating art rose and fell (and fell, and fell).
Within this past year, something internally has cliked for me, and I have found my inspiration again. That inspiration came from the fiber arts. First I learned how to knit from a group of former colleagues and I quickly became obsessed. I embrace all the fiber arts - knitting, crochet, felting, weaving, spinning - you name it. If it includes fiber in some way, I want to do it.
Now I tell people I work full time to support my artistic habit. This blog is a part of of that habit. Many thank you’s are in order — to my family; my incredible, supporting, loving boyfriend (rock & roll, honey!); my good friends (special gold stars to those who taught me how to knit!); my grandmother who taught me how to crochet; and to the incredible community that exists to support the fiber arts.
